Alfarera Purépecha seeks a chance that allows her art to flourish in Coachella.

María Eugelia is the daughter of a well-known artisan,  María de Jesús Pascual, and while in her native town she produced a vast amount of clay mini sculptures during the 25 years prior to her migration to the United States.

Maria Eugelia Elías is a Purepecha artisan woman who lives in Coachella  and works in the agricultural fields, but who strives to preserve her ability to create arts cafts from her natal Ocumicho, Michoacan, Mexico, such as the famous “diablitos” (little devil figurines), among many other tradicional arts crafts. María Eugelia is the daughter of a well-known artisan,  María de Jesús Pascual, and while in her native town she produced a vast amount of clay mini sculptures during the 25 years prior to her migration to the United States. In the following conversation she tells our reporter Ruben Tapia that she yearns to keep making her arts crafts and to pass the tradition to young purepechas in this country.
