Sheriff Joe Arpaio, of Maricopa County in Arizona, intentionally and discriminatorily targets immigrant workers, according to the federal government.  Many of those arrested for working with false documents end up with criminal charges. A pro-immigrant movement in the state is calling on the federal government to make an exception for those impacted by the sheriff’s raids, and allow them to apply for deferred action, and not be excluded because of their criminal record.
