MONDAY, NOVEMBER 21
PROGRAM # 7936 12:00 PM PST.
Medi-Cal, Denti-Cal and the Election.
Since May, a new law in California has given undocumented kids unprecedented access to full benefits of Medi-Cal and Denti-Cal. Dentists are facing a special challenge, since uninsured kids are reportedly afflicted by an epidemic of tooth decay and other oral health problems. Six months later, how are the newly-insured kids doing under Medi-Cal and Denti-Cal? Is the climate of heightened fear among immigrant families after the election impacting enrollment? How would these programs be affected if the expanded Medicaid program is cut down under the new administration? How would the approval of key state propositions by voters impact access to doctors and health care?
Guests: Ana Ibarra, Reporter, Kaiser Health News, Sacramento, CA; Juan Santiago, Reporter, Radio Bilingüe, Madera, CA; Mayra Alvarez, President, The Children’s Partnership, Los Angeles, CA.
