MONDAY, JULY 4
PROGRAM # 9672 12:00 PM PT
Reproductive Freedoms.
The US Supreme Court’s conservative majority overturned Roe v. Wade, ending the 50-year federal right to abortion. On this 4th of July, a traditional day of civil freedoms, women advocates reflect on the meaning of the Court’s decision on reproductive freedom. They also comment on what the ruling means for Latina women, how will they be impacted, how do state governments respond, the looming legal battles at the state level with some states trying to expand bans while others seeking to expand rights to abortion, the legal right to access contraceptives now a target and the impact on the midterm elections.
Guests: Lupe M. Rodríguez, Executive director, National Latina Institute for Reproductive Justice, New York, NY; Alejandra Soto, Director of Latino Communications, Planned Parenthood Federation of America, New York, NY; Xochitl Oseguera, National Vice President, MomsRising, Berkeley, CA.
