Deaf Latinos and Families.
Parents of deaf and hard of hearing children and adults came together to promote awareness among Latinos about the issues and culture unique to deaf people. They help families in need to learn a sign language that will allow them to connect with their children and share family traditions, stories, values and experiences with their deaf or hard of hearing children. Leaders comment on the challenges Latino families of deaf persons face in everyday life, the myths and misconceptions of being deaf and Mexican and US sign language.
