Medical Groups Call for Mandatory Vaccination.

In the face of the alarming rise of infections and hospitalizations due to the Delta variant of Covid, experts in pathology and laboratory medicine call for mandatory vaccination to keep Americans safe, especially children under the age of 12 who are not yet eligible for the COVID vaccine. Pathology and laboratory professionals say they are overwhelmed, struggling to keep up with the growing number of coronavirus tests that need to be processed immediately. This means that people with cancer or other life-threatening illnesses face dangerous delays in diagnosis and treatments. Is it time to make Covid-19 vaccines mandatory in the US? A leading pathologist urges governments and private institutions to adopt vaccine mandates in the interest of public health. Another medical expert comments on ways to protect kids who return to school, what to do when they get exposed to coronavirus, and warns about misinformation promoting the use of livestock drug Ivermectin.

Guests: Dr. Jeannette Guarner, Professor, Pathology and Laboratory, Emory University Hospital, Atlanta, GA; Dr. Sergio Aguilar-Gaxiola, Director, Center for Reducing Health Disparities, Professor of Clinical Internal Medicine, UC Davis, Davis, CA.

Supreme Court Ends Federal Eviction Protections.

The Supreme Court threw out an eviction freeze put in place by the Biden administration to shield tenants who are having trouble paying rent from the coronavirus pandemic. Despite the warnings of the liberal justices about the spike in Covid-19 cases and the Delta variant, the conservative majority ruled that “If a federally imposed eviction moratorium is to continue, Congress must specifically authorize it.” A tenant advocate says this federal ruling will be disastrous for tenants in those states with weak housing protections and gives advice about state and local pandemic emergency protections temporarily available in California and other states. Listeners call in to report and get legal advice on eviction of tenants and homeowners who have problems to get paid by their tenants.
