“Language in the Trump Era.”

Trump used language in a polarizing rhetorical style that alarmed many and excited his followers, leading his followers into an alternate reality, sowing political conflict and further dividing the nation along racial, gender, and class lines. A language scholar who studied Trump’s language behavior talks about the meaning and consequences of Trump’s boasts, banter and mockery of individuals and communities.

Covid Ravaging Latinos. The Covid-19 pandemic has left no community untouched in California, but none has been hit as hard as Latinos. The virus surge during the summer and winter swept entire communities and Latinos have suffered an overwhelming loss of life. Are Latinos been given due priority for vaccination and testing and health care? Are they included in California’s recovery plans?
