PROGRAM # 9266 11:00 AM PDT
Extra Edition: Vaccinating Projects.
Many Latinos say they want a Covid vaccine, but haven’t gotten one yet because they are concerned about missing work because of side effects, identification requirements, traveling to the vaccination site, cost of the vaccine, and fear to questions about health insurance. Community health care workers have been walking door to door in California’s rural areas to help dispel those issues and provide Covid vaccines to farm workers. They are encouraged by lower numbers of Covid infections and deaths. Essential workers ponder the benefits of the vaccine to be able to perform their jobs, as they recall the havoc caused by the pandemic in many families last year, and warn against false rumors and misinformation. A local public health leader is convening a “tardeada” with free tacos to encourage undocumented families and young people to get vaccinated.
