Critical Health Care Talks. Also, Affording Health Insurance.

Monday_673x324MONDAY, JULY 18
PROGRAM # 9686 12:00 PM PT

Critical Health Care Talks.

If the US Congress does not close the Medicaid coverage gap in the current economic reconciliation package, more than two million people would lose health coverage. Many Latinos will be critically affected. Latina women may be at highest risk after the Supreme Court overturned abortion rights and some states further restrict access to abortion services. Abortion restrictions will only exacerbate the high mortality rates among Latino babies and mothers, advocates warn.

Guest: Laura Guerra-Cardus, Director for Medicaid State Strategy, Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, Austin, TX.

Affording Health Insurance. Hundreds of thousands of low-income Californians could lose their health insurance because of higher premiums unless the US Congress takes action and decides to continue the American Rescue Plan’s benefits. This law, which helped millions to sign up for health insurance, is set to expire at the end of the year.

Guests: Patricia Ward, State Spokesperson, Covered California, Sacramento, CA.
