PROGRAM # 8852 12:00 PM PT
Coronavirus: Latest Update.
Coronavirus deaths continue climbing in New York, the epicenter of the pandemic, and other hotspots in the nation. Correspondents file reports about the measures early hotspot states are taking to fight the spread of the virus and to bring relief for the unemployed and the struggling small businesses. Also, an expert gives his perspective on why so many African-Americans and Latinos are being hospitalized or dying of coronavirus, as data shows that half of the patients who have tested positive for the coronavirus in California are people of color, and one third of those dying of the disease in New York are Latinos. Lack of access to health care, underlying health conditions such as diabetes and high blood pressure, and working in companies that won’t take protective measures, are key factors. Also, he recommends telephone or video consultation for those with symptoms and gives practical steps to stay free from coronavirus.
Guests: Dr. Efrain Talamantes, Medical Director, Institute for Health Equity, AltaMed Health Services, Founder, Center for Reducing Health Disparities, UC Davis, Los Angeles, CA; Marco Vinicio González, News Correspondent, New York, NY; Araceli Martinez, News Correspondent, Los Angeles, CA; Messala Tapia, Host of Al Tanto Program, WLCH Radio Centro, Lancaster, PA
