Immigrants Accessing Safety Net.

Monday_673x324MONDAY, AUGUST 22
PROGRAM # 9721 12:00 PM PT

Immigrants Accessing Safety Net.

Immigrant families were among the hardest hit by the pandemic and the last to access relief from safety net programs. In response, Colorado and other states are expanding health care benefits for undocumented immigrants, a population that remains largely uninsured. Colorado is allowing undocumented residents to apply for state subsidies to buy health insurance and pregnant women and children may have access to Medicaid and CHIP. Will they come forward and apply for safety net benefits? What are the state government and local community organizations doing to help navigate the system and overcome the roadblocks and ensure access to health care?

Guests: María Rodríguez, Healthcare Equity and Outreach Specialist, Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies, Denver, CO; Adam Fox, Deputy Director, Colorado Consumer Health Initiative, Denver, CO; Dulce González, Research Associate, Health Policy Center, The Urban Institute, Chicago, IL.
