Early Voting and Latino Vote.

PROGRAM # 8459 12:00 PM PT

Early Voting and Latino Vote.

Millions have already casted a ballot after the first week of early voting in the midterms. Will the surge continue until the last days of early voting? And one week before Election Day, a top analyst shares projections for Latino voter turnout in key states and the prospects for Latino candidates who are running for Congress or statewide offices. An analyst also comments on obstacles faced by Latino voters in some states, including Kansas, where a majority-Latino city of 27,000 has only one polling site, which has been moved outside city limits. In a message to Línea Abierta, county authorities allege they have had only one voting place for more than two decades and it was moved out of town “in the interest of public safety.” A listener from Dodge City called in to complain of discrimination practices by the state and local election authorities.

Guests: Angela Manso, Director of Political and Legislative Affairs, NALEO, Washington, DC.
