MONDAY, DECEMBER 16
PROGRAM # 8760 12:00 PM PT

Police Violence Under Scrutiny.

Two years ago, an unarmed teenager was shot to death by a police officer in Fresno, California. The police chief justified the killing claiming the officer who fired the shot feared for his life. But a recently released video shows that the teen was running from officers, a cop points his gun at him, and the kid is shot in the back of the head and then handcuffed while dying. The killing has sparked public denunciations of extreme police brutality and calls for an independent investigation by the state. Local leaders join a conversation on this case and on local policies and practices of use of deadly force.

Guests: Miguel Arias, City Councilman, Fresno, CA; Sandra Celedón, President and CEO, Fresno Building Healthy Communities, Fresno, CA; Gloria Hernández, Police Reform Activist, Fresno, CA.
