Voter Vigilantes?
Republican candidate Donald Trump is calling his followers to help patrol polling places as a “voter-watch” strategy to prevent fraud. Civil rights advocates warn that this campaign resembles old tactics of intimidation and harassment designed to depress minority voter participation. They say untrained observers policing the polls may disrupt the process and create chaos on Election Day. Analysts also comment on the efforts of Texas and North Carolina to get their strict voter ID laws reinstated for the November election after appeal courts found them discriminatory.
