A Governor Garcia in Arizona?
Democratic candidate David Garcia, a college professor, is running for governor of Arizona, a closely contested state. What’s his message? Will he be able to bring more Latino voters to the polls? Also, Arizona is among the worst states in acces to health, education spending and immigrant integration. García discusses his plans in those areas.
Guest: David García, Democratic Candidate to Governor, Phoenix, AZ.
Latina Battles to Run for Office. Maria Palacios, a Mexican-born candidate to Georgia’s state House, is waging a legal battle for her right to run for office. Palacios, a naturalized citizen, is appealing to Georgia’s Supreme Court to overturn a decision by the state to remove her from the ballot over citizenship requirements. In this conversation, Palacios talks about how she went from being a Dreamer to run for political office, her emphasis on issues of education and criminal justice reform, and the practice of excluding voters and candidates of color and the role the Secretary of State is playing in campaign ads vilifying immigrants.
Guest: María de Rosario Palacios, Candidate for Georgia State House of Representatives, Gainesville, GA,
