Women Janitors Combat Rape.
On the day after International Women’s Day, janitors in California call for an end to rape in the night shift and a “New Deal for Immigrant Workers.” A union leader who has advanced immigrant women causes appeals to building owners and employers to help end rape and sexual assaults in office buildings. A peer counsel for janitors and a leading legislator also comment on the new California laws that allow peer-to-peer or “promotora” counseling and requiring employers to give bilingual training on violence and sexual harassment prevention in the workplace for immigrant women.
