Nearly a half of the police force in a small California town was arrested, accused of taking part in a car theft scheme. King City’s police chief and other officers face charges of impounding and profiting from more than 200 cars belonging to poor Latino immigrant families. According to the prosecution, those targeted were undocumented field workers. Community leaders propose immediate changes in the city, like a citizen advisory board, restrictions to police practices, and a probe at state and federal level.

Guests: Salvador Manrique and Rufina Reséndiz, victims of impounding, King City, CA; Carlos Ramos, Director District 12, League of United Latin American Citizens, Salinas, CA, www.lulac.org ; Simón Salinas, District 3 Supervisor, Monterey County, Salinas, CA.
