PROGRAM # 9703 12:00 PM PT
March from Delano to Sacramento.
Following on the steps of the Chavez-led 1966 pilgrimage, farm workers begin in Delano a 24-day march to Sacramento. In the state capitol, they will place a number of grievances to the governor and the legislature, including a petition for the governor to sign a bill that would give farmworkers the choice of voting by mail, in secret, in union elections. Leaders of the march talk about the issues driving the protest.
Guests: Teresa Romero, President, United Farm Workers of America – UFW, Delano, CA (TBC); Others TBA.
