Reading Central Valley Congressional Elections Results.
Republicans gained control of the US House with the help of a few seats won in California, including Latino-majority districts in the heart of the Central Valley. Republicans were able to capture congressional seats in districts that widely supported Biden in the last presidential election. A veteran political analyst comments on these results and on the recent state decision to let a community commission redraw the boundaries of the political districts to ensure fairer representation for Latinos in Fresno County.
Guest: Juan Arambula, Former California State Legislator, Redistricting Advocate, Fresno, CA. (TBC)
Karen Bass Sworn In as First Female Mayor of LA. Los Angeles Mayor-elect Karen Bass included prominent Latino leaders and experts in her Mayoral Transition Advisory Team to shape her plans and the first 100 days of her Administration. State Senator María Elena Durazo, a member of the team, talks about the vision of the incoming administration and a bill she is spearheading in Sacramento to create an independent, citizens redistricting commission to reform the Los Angeles City redistricting process in a way similar to the one established in state law for the Counties of Los Angeles, San Diego, Riverside, Kern and Fresno.
