The First Voting.
An elections observer examines from Des Moines the outcome of the Iowa caucuses. Latino turnout has been growing exponentially in Iowa in recent presidential caucuses and is expected to break new records in today’s vote. Democrats stepped up efforts to engage more Latino voters and for the first time bilingual caucus sites for Spanish-speakers were set up in several cities of the state. Our political analyst comments about those campaigns that took front stage in the first caucuses.

State of the Union. President Trump’s final State of the Union address of his current term comes on the heels of the impeachment trial and after the first votes for the 2020 election. In his speech, Donald Trump magnified in a triumphalist tone his credit about the state of unemployment the the growth of the economy, to then make a downturn and blame immigrants for serious crimes and depleting the funds for health care around the nation. Texas congresswoman Verónica Escobar delivers the Democrats’ response to Trump’s speech, emphasizing Trump’s omission of the massacre in El Paso, an act of terror perpetrated by a White nationalist. This report provides highlights of both speeches.
