Monday_673x324MONDAY, NOVEMBER 19
PROGRAM # 8480 12:00 PM PT

The Latino Vote Surge.

Latino voter participation surged to record numbers in the midterm election, playing a key role in turning the House blue and helping elect a record number of Latino representatives to Congress. A veteran political leader gives his perspective on the reasons behind the unusually high turnout of Latinos around the Southwest, and the unlikely rise of Democrat Beto O’Rourke to almost capture Texas’ seat in the US Senate, in a deep red state. This program also includes news about the vote count in the race for CD 21 in California, between Valadao and Cox; the vote count in the race for Sheriff in Los Angeles County; and the dramatic flip of conservative Orange County from red to blue.

Guest: José Angel Gutiérrez, Retired Professor, Political Scientist, Co-Founder, La Raza Unida Party, Redlands, CA.

“El Chapo” Trial. The trial of Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman, the Sinaloa cartel drug trafficker, has begun in New York. As former associates of Guzman took the witness stand, a defense lawyer says his client is being scapegoated and current and former Mexican presidents have received large sums in bribes. Guzman faces a potential life sentence. What to expect?

Guest: José López Zamorano, Correspondent, Washington, DC
