THURSDAY, JULY 12
PROGRAM # 8379 12:00 PM PT
“La Nueva California.”
Contrary to inflammatory rhetoric from Washington about the threat of Mexican “bad hombres,” Latinos work more than any other group, use welfare less, have stronger families, set up business faster than others and those who speak English and Spanish live longer. All this despite earning less, having less education and less access to health care than the general population. A renowned social researcher shares findings of his lifetime work studying Latinos and health.
Guest: Dr. David Hayes-Bautista, Professor of Medicine, Director of the Center for the Study of Latino Health and Culture, David Geffen School of Medicine, UCLA, Author of “La Nueva California: Latinos from Pioneers to Post-Millennials,” Los Angeles, CA.
