Senate Acquits Trump.

The US Senate voted to acquit former President Trump of inciting an insurrection, with seven Republicans voting to convict, the most bipartisan impeachment trial in history. GOP Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler’s testimony about when Trump first learned about the riot and what he hasd done about it was included at the last minute, and after voting to acquit Trump, McConnell denounced him as responsible for the riot. A reporter brings details about the proceedings and a legal analyst gives his perspective about the ramifications of this process and the upcoming legal battles of the former president.

Georgia Investigates Trump. While acquited by the US Senate, Trump still faces other probes on electoral fraud and inciting to violence. A prosecutor in Atlanta has opened a criminal investigation into Trump’s attempts to overturn the results of Georgia’s 2020 election. Georgia is the second state where Trump faces criminal charges. A correspondent reports about the investigation, including acts of suspected election fraud, conspiracy, and racketeering, and the prosecutor in charge.
