Anticorruption Judge Under Threat.  After years taking on some of Guatemala’s most powerful officials on charges of corruption, torture or genocide, judge Miguel Angel Gálvez is now facing a wave of death threats in recent weeks. When he asked the government to investigate, the Supreme Court started a process that may lead to Galvez’s arrest. A reporter in exile shares comments.

Guests: Juan Luis Font, Journalist, Guatemalan Exile, Washington, DC.

Gun Safety Bill and Angry Moms. President Biden signed into law the first major gun safety reform in nearly 30 years. The bipartisan bill imposes stricter controls on young gun buyers and encourages states to remove guns from people considered a threat. Community leaders from the Uvalde area, the scene of one of the latest school massacres, say that while narrow in scope, the bill is a first step in the right direction. The leader and founder of a newly-formed group of Uvalde families, named Fierce Madres, talks about a movement of Latina moms to fight for gun control, school safety and other demands.

Guests: José Angel Gutiérrez, Attorney, Professor, Civil Rights Leader, Riverside, CA; Angela Villescaz, Co Founder, Fierce Madres, Austin, TX.
