El Salvador: New President.
Former San Salvador mayor Nayib Bukele was elected president in El Salvador with promises to combat corruption and violence, and stop mass migration. Bukele, who is credited with revitalizing the historic city downtown, built his reputation as a “millenial leader” through intense use of social media. Electoral observers comment on the expectations for the new president.
