Nationalist Rafael Cancel Miranda.

Lifetime advocate for Puerto Rico’s independence, Rafael Cancel Miranda was imprisoned for 25 years after a nationalist commando attack on the U.S. Congress on March 1st of 1954. Cancel Miranda, who was the last surviving participant in that attack, died last March in Rio Piedras at the age of 89. This archival interview with Cancel Miranda was aired on February 28, 2013. In this conversation, the legendary figure recollects the events of 1954 and his years in maximum-security prison, and reflects on his life of nationalist struggle.
