There was a spontaneous day of celebration in the streets and downtown´s central plaza (Zócalo) of Mexico City. People were jubilant about the resounding triumph of Andrés Manuel López Obrador, who was elected president of Mexico with more than thirty million votes. His party also won in 31 of the 32 states of the country. López Obrador, who also won the majority in Congress, could reverse laws such as the energy reform, internal security, education, and labor, which sparked thousands of protests during the administration of current president Enrique Peña Nieto. A few days after the triumph of the leftist leader, businessmen who previously demonized him, now take pictures with him and congratulations from the political class are abundant. In addition, appointments for the new government begin.
