PROGRAM # 9199 11:00 AM PST
Extra Edition: “I Can’t Breathe!”
Fresno cops suffocated to death an unarmed and handcuffed man while he cried: “I can’t breathe!” as another Fresno cop was found to have links with the hate group Proud Boys. Meantime, in Pomona, a watchdog group released a first-of-its-kind report on racial profiling practices in local police, showing alarming trends in the arrests of young people and people of color. In response, local activists call for independent civilian boards and other police reforms.
Guests: Jesús Sánchez, Co-Founder and Executive Director, Gente Organizada, Pomona, CA; Dr. Bianca Haro, Sociology Professor, Pitzer College, Pomona, CA; Gloria Hernández, Police Reform Activist, Fresno, CA.
