TUESDAY, JUNE 1
PROGRAM # 9273 11:00 AM PDT
Extra Edition: General Gallardo: Political Prisoner.
A pre-taped, exclusive interview with Gen. José Francisco Gallardo, a prisoner of conscience according to human rights advocates, who spent eight years in Mexican jails. General Gallardo’s arrest is linked to his push to create the position of human rights ombudsman in the Mexican armed forces. This interview from inside the prison walls was aired originally on November 21, 2001, a few months before his release and after mounting international public pressure. Gral. Gallardo, who passed away of Covid-19 a month ago, was a fearless voice against the abuses in the Mexican military until his death.
Guest: Gral. José Francisco Gallardo, Former Political Prisoner, Human Rights Advocate, Neza Bordo Prison, Mexico City.
