TUESDAY, JUNE 28
PROGRAM # 9667 12:00 PM PT
Immigration Edition.
Colorado voters are casting their ballots for the primary elections. They are selecting candidates for US senator, governor, attorney general, secretary of state and others. The competitive primaries are on the Republican ballot for governor and secretary of state. Unaffiliated voters, who make up the largest voting block in the state, can participate in these partisan primaries and may be able to swing contested races. A news correspondent talks about the big issues that are driving voters to the polls, the weight of the unaffiliated voters block and the races to watch, including CD8, the competitive congressional district with the largest Latino population in Colorado. Immigrant and Latina advocates talk about the fight against electoral disinformation, the low Latino turnout and the potential impact of the US Supreme Court decision ending the federal right to abortion on immigrant Latinas and on voters. Finally, a national advocate comments on the death of 50 migrants in a trailer truck in San Antonio, its use by politicians to score electoral points, and the reforms needed to prevent these tragedies.
