Biden Address to Congress.

This is a report on President Biden’s address to a joint session of Congress. A news reporter files a report and a political analyst gives perspective to Biden’s proposed “American Families Plan,” which includes universal preschool, free community college and a national paid leave program, as well as expanding access to health care. He also pushed for the legalization of Dreamers and farmworkers, and police reform.

Guests: Jose López Zamorano, Reporter, Washington, DC; Lizet Ocampo, Political Director, People For the American Way – PFAW, Washington, DC
Hate Crimes Bill. One year after President Trump’s “Chinese virus” tweet, the US Senate passed a bill to combat a rise in hate crimes against Asian Americans during the coronavirus pandemic. This legislation would designate an official at the Department of Justice to expedite the review of COVID-19-related hate crimes, and provide support for state and local law enforcement agencies to respond to these hate crimes.

Guest: Jose Roberto Hernández, Chief of Staff & Director of Organizing, KoreaTown Immigrant Workers Alliance – KIWA, Los Angeles, CA
Plans to End White Supremacist Violence. White supremacist violence has raged in the US at alarming rates over the past four years, emerging as one of the top national security threats that must be faced. While the US has finally recognized white supremacist extremists as ‘the most persistent and deadly threat to the homeland,’ the US government has failed to come up with a plan. Two think tanks released a bipartisan policy plan outlining a strategy to curb violence and defeat domestic violent extremism and hatred.

Guest: Jessica Cobian, Senior Campaign Manager, Center for American Progress, Washington, DC.
