This edition includes two special segments, on the occasion of celebrating International Women’s Day and Women’s History Month.
Susana Baca. Afro-Peruvian singer and songwriter Susana Baca, a prominent interpreter of samba, soul, and folk music and a Grammy winner, talks about her decades in the music and her new projects. The first Black cabinet member as Peru’s culture minister, she also talks about how she overcame racial discrimination, and her relationship with Africa and the Peruvian diaspora. She was interviewed while touring through San Francisco.

“Women.” In this recording segment, the late Uruguayan writer Eduardo Galeano reads selected stories from his last book, “Mujeres.” These stories feature women who, after living in the shadow of men, knew how to break their silence and rose their voice.
