WEDNESDAY, APRIL 1
PROGRAM # 8844 12:00 PM PT
Census Day.
It’s National Census Day and households around the nation have been receiving an invitation to participate in the count online, by mail or by phone, but the efforts to follow up have been hampered by the coronavirus pandemic. In response, and staying safe at home or office, advocates redouble their efforts to reach out to neighbors online or through virtual events to encourage them to make a plan to fill out the form and avoid scams by people who pose as census workers. An official of the Census Bureau says that despite the new extension of its field operations, the agency continues ahead with its outreach work and encouraging people to commit to fill out the “self-responses,” which have surpassed a third of the population.
Guests: Cindy Quezada, Senior Program Officer, Sierra Health Foundation, Fresno, CA; Erika Becker-Medina, especialista en medios, U.S. Census Bureau, Washington, D.C.; Arcela Nuñez-Alvarez, directora de investigación, National Latino Research Center (NLRC), CSU San Marcos, San Marcos, CA.
