PROGRAM # 8918 12:00 PM PT
Voting Disaster in Georgia.
Five states held primaries last week, and Georgia captured the national headlines for being the scene of a voting disaster, largely in Black and Latino areas. The election was plagued by voting problems, such as long lines and broken voting machines, in what many see as a warning about what’s coming up in November. Analysts talk about this story, and about reports of a surge in voter registration and volunteer activity among younger voters following the George Floyd protests.
Guests: Maria Teresa Kumar, Executive Director, Voto Latino, Washington, DC (TBC); Gerardo Guzmán, News Director, Hispanic News Service, Atlanta, GA.
