PROGRAM # 8743 12:00 PM PT
Fifth Democratic Presidential Debate.
With less than 90 days until the Iowa caucuses, ten Democratic candidates met in Atlanta for the fifth presidential debate. Using fundraising and polling criteria, Joe Biden and Elizabeth Warren took center stage, while due to the same criteria, the only Latino candidate was left out. From a forum outside the debate venue, Julián Castro trended in social media, pointing to the way his plans on the housing crisis, immigration, and police reform have already impacted the Democratic debate. A political analyst comments on the highlights of the debate. This coverage also includes reports on the wide coincidence on the issue of impeaching Trump, and the sharp differences on what to do about the health care system, as well as the different views on plans to build affordable housing, combat the growing violence from white nationalist groups, and the legalization of marijuana and other matters of criminal justice.
Guest: Albert Morales, Senior Political Director, Latino Decisions, Washington, D.C.; (Audio Segments) Various Candidates.
