PROGRAM # 8905 11:00 AM PT
Coronavirus: Extra Edition.
After being delayed due to Covid-19, census workers have started delivering questionnaire packets at the front doors of households while community leaders encourage people to self-respond online to help prevent the spread of coronavirus. A census official reports on this. Also, a legendary leader and local organizers talk about the revenue each filled form will mean for the schools, clinics, and parks of every poor community; the impact that a complete count can have on fairer political representation and immigration reform; the message against those who wanted to instill fear in the Latino community; and call on those who protest racism to help count the population.
Guests: Dolores Huerta, President and Founder, Dolores Huerta Foundation, Bakersfield, CA; Nayamin Martinez, Director, Central California Environmental Justice Network, Fresno, CA; Pablo Rodriguez, Founding Executive Director, Communities for a New California Education Fund, Sacramento, CA; Angelica Vasquez, Spokesperson, United States Census Office, Los Angeles, CA.
