The state government of Sonora, in Northern Mexico, has built an aqueduct to siphon off waters of the Yaqui River to supply industry and other urban uses. The traditional authorities of the Yaqui Tribe are asserting their historic and legal rights to the water of the Yaqui Basin, the largest river system in the state. Despite getting protection from high courts, the project to divert the water continues. This is a conversation with a Yaqui leader, touring cities along the Mexican border.
Guest: Mario Cota Tórtola, Representative of traditional authority, Yaqui Tribe, Cócorit, Sonora, México.
