On the eve of Mexico’s June 6 midterm election, news contributors report from battleground states. At stake are Congress and half of Mexico’s governorships, as well as the agenda of President López Obrador. Tens of thousands of Mexicans living abroad are voting for the first time via the Internet. Reporters talk about the high level of interest and expectation among voters, amid intense tension in areas hit by political violence. Analysts comment about the battle for the nation’s budget and project behind the races to win control of Congress and the 15 governorships.
