President of Mexico Enrique Peña Nieto presented his energy reform proposal with a huge television campaign using the image of former president Lázaro Cárdenas, the hero of the Mexican oil expropiation of 1938. The energy reform is expected to be approved in September, with the support of legislators from all three major political parties. The proposal modifies two articles of the Mexican Constitution and allows contracts with foreign companies.This edition also looks at the nomination of journalist Francisco Huerta to posthumously receive the Belisario Domínguez Medal from Mexico’s Senate.
