With the repression of students from the Ayotzinapa teacher training college, in which six young people were assassinated and forty-three are missing, and with the death anniversary of the student massacre of 1968 approaching, the cry for democracy and justice from the student community and several social movements becomes louder throughout the country. In light of these, the Secretariat of the Interior, Miguel Angel Osorio Chong met in public with protesting students from the National Polytechnic Institute (IPN) who are opposing the new curriculum changes which will now have them graduate with an Advanced Technical Degree instead of a Engineering Degree such change [according to them] will make them low cost labor. In the other hand, historic leaders from theConsejo Nacional de Huelga de 1968,continued with their demands for punishment for those responsible of the student massacre of Tlatelolco.
