PROGRAM # 9629 12:00 PM PT

Mexico Edition.

After Mexican President López Obrador proposed that everyone should be invited to the Summit of the Americas, a growing number of Latin American heads of state have announced they will not attend the gathering in Los Angeles if the leaders of Cuba, Nicaragua, and Venezuela are excluded. Political analysts comment on the opportunities and perils that surround the summit. They talk about the consequences these new tensions may have on the relation between the US and Mexico and the region, the balancing act the Biden administration is having in the relationship with Latin America and with Miami, and the possible emergence of a new political agenda from this gathering.

Guests: Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, Mexico City (Audio Segment); Marcelo Ebrard, Mexico Chancellor, Mexico City (Audio Segment); Prof. Jose Maria Ramos, Academic Researcher, El Colegio de la Frontera Norte – COLEF, Tijuana, MX; David Brooks, US Correspondent, La Jornada, New York, NY.
