FRIDAY, MARCH 13
PROGRAM # 8828 12:00 PM PT
Mexico Edition.
Tens of thousands of women marched in the streets of Mexico City to condemn them for femicides, sexual harassment and the response of the authorities. While in Mexico there are gender alerts, search protocols and laws to guarantee women a life free of violence, last year 3,825 women were killed and another 2,043 were disappeared. According to a specialist, abuse and contempt for women occurs not only in the family and work environment, but also in government institutions. If a girl disappears, the prosecutors do not activate the search mechanisms in time. If a woman is murdered with violence, they do not investigate with a gender perspective. It also questions the lack of actions to prevent violence. Martha Elena Ramírez hosts this broadcast from Mexico City.
Guest: (recorded interview) María de la Luz Estrada Mendoza, coordinator, National Citizen Observatory of Feminicide, founder of the organization Catholics for the Right to Choose, Mexico City.
