PROGRAM # 8629 12:00 PM PT

Mexico Edition.

To prevent the US from imposing progressive tariffs on Mexico’s export products, the Mexican government agreed to contain the entry of Central Americans into its southern border, to register the migrants who are already in its territory and to shelter the thousands of people who apply for US asylum on its northern border. Such agreement, which will involve the mobilization of 6,000 National Guard troops, hire a thousand new migration agents, and economic resources to provide employment and health services and education to the displaced, will have a costly financial and social toll on Mexico, whose results will be evaluated every 45 days by the US government. The obradorista government has requested the support of the UN, has announced the application of an Integral Development Plan proposed by ECLAC and assures that President Trump agreed to collaborate to promote development in Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador. Martha Elena Ramírez, hosts this broadcast of the Voz Pública program from Mexico City.

Guests: Martha Sánchez Soler, Coordinator of the Mesoamerican Migrant Movement, Mexico City; Rubén Figueroa, Activist of the Mesoamerican Migrant Movement. Tapachula, Chiapas.
