Thanks to the labor movement named 20-32, workers from 95 maquiladora companies located in border states benefited from the 20 percent increase in their salaries and the payment of a single bonus of 32,000 pesos, informed labor lawyer Susana Prieto Terrazas. The activist and legal counsel of this unexpected labor revolt announced that the workers are already processing the creation of an independent union, because the current one, apart from trying to prevent and break the strikes, deprives the workers of four percent of their income, without accountability. The Employers Confederation of the Mexican Republic, in Matamoros, reported that the 20-32 movement left a balance of five billion pesos in economic losses and about 6,500 workers dismissed. Recently, a lawsuit has been filed against the transnational corporation Metalux, demanding the reinstatement of the dismissed employees, while the Coca Cola company has already agreed to compensate its striking workers.
