Mexico Edition.
After Mexican authorities warned about the launching of a new migrant caravan in which almost 20,000 Central Americans would participate and that the US government threatened to close its border, President Trump “pardoned” Mexico and gave its government a one-year deadline to stop the migratory wave. At the same time, ministers from Mexico, El Salvador, Honduras and Guatemala signed memoranda with Washington to curb undocumented migration. For his part, Irineo Mújica, director of the organization Pueblos sin Fronteras indicated that there never was such a mega-caravan and that the issue is promoted and used politically by President Trump, who is already working on his re-election. Moreover, Trump has been who has decided to remove foreign assistance programs, which are intended to combat malnutrition and violence in Central America.
