With the creation of the National Guard, Mexican President Lopez Obrador opens the door to the establishment in Mexico of a state guarded by militarized police, because now all the patrolling troops, and public security operations of the national territory, will be ordered by the Executive and the chiefs of the Presidential Guard. These security forces will not have the supervision of the Congress, which will lack the power to inspect or dissolve them. In the beginning, this military structure will have 35 thousand members of the armed forces, including soldiers, marine officers, and federal policemen. In the future, civilians trained under military discipline will be incorporated into this institution. In a comprehensive interview, the former political prisoner and general, Francisco Gallardo, explained that with the integration of this National Guard, more than 12 constitutional articles are violated, the autonomy of the states and municipalities is annulled, and the investigative functions of the Public Ministry are invaded.
