PROGRAM # 8297 12:00 PM PT
Mexico Edition.
Mexican presidential campaigns are heating up, with a progressive candidate leading the polls by wide margin. Meantime, Mexicans living abroad rush to beat the deadline to register to vote, and Mexico’s consulates are preparing to open until midnight on Saturday, amid complaints that Mexican consulates have been unable to process those requests and appointments to register to vote have ended since weeks ago. This program includes comments from Mexico’s election officials and voting-rights activists about the efforts to promote mail-in ballots among Mexicans living abroad, who will be voting absentee for the third time in history.
Guests: Emma Guadalupe Alvarez Rateike, Cónsul de Documentación a Extranjeros, Seccion Consular de México en Washington, Washington, DC ; General Consul Francisco De La Torre, Dallas, TX; Francisco Moreno, Cofounder and Director, Consejo de Federaciones Mexicanas de Norte America – COFEM, Los Angeles, CA.
