PROGRAM # 8212 12:00 PM PT
Mexico Edition.
With the nomination of José Antonio Meade as the candidate of the officialist PRI for the Presidency of Mexico, begins the electoral ritual to elect in 2018 the new president of the country. Although the candidate of the PAN-PRD front is still to be determined, and it’s still unknown if any of the independent candidates will be able to run, to date, Andrés Manuel López Obrador heads the electoral preferences. So, everything indicates that the race will be between the Tabasco leftist and the neoliberal candidate of the PRI. In this edition, it’s also reported on the massive disappearance of agricultural laborers. The first case occurred in 2004, when 200 people from the Barrio del Valle Oaxaca community were hooked up to work in the fields of Guasave, Sinaloa. The second occurred in 2015, when 28 natives of Xilitla, San Luis Potosí traveled to Tamaulipas. And in 2016, the trail of 11 workers from Choix, Sinaloa, that were heading to Sonora, was lost. Martha Elena Ramírez hosts this broadcast of the Voz Pública program, from Mexico City.
