Mexico Edition.
For two days, four women told the International Criminal Court about the beatings and rape they suffered during the police operation carried out in the Mexican municipality of San Salvador Atenco in 2006. Such action, carried out when the current president of Mexico Enrique Peña Nieto governed that state, left two people dead and more than 300 people arrested. At the hearing held in Costa Rica, there were representatives of the Mexican government that attended to refute the accusations, the complainants demanded the punishment of all those involved, from the ones those who gave the order to repress to those who committed the abuses. Eleven years have passed since the events, and in Mexico, the complainants tried unsuccessfully to punish those responsible for the crime, therefore the international tribunal agreed to review the case. Martha Elena Ramírez hosts this broadcast of the Voz Pública program, from Mexico City.
