PROGRAM # 8155 12:00 PM PT
Mexico Edition.
Central American migrants and the humanitarian peace brigade “Marabunta” are helping those affected by the earthquake in Oaxaca. From the first hours, they worked in the recovery of bodies and buildings, as well as in the demolition of cracked façades. Now they distribute groceries to the families, many of whom live now in the open, in the yards or lots where once were their houses. Now the volunteers seek to raise some roofing to protect families as it began to rain in the area. Others report that in the Municipal Palace of Juchitán, workers remove rubble, but the piles of debris have not been removed from the streets in the neighborhoods. Martha Elena Ramirez hosts this broadcast of the program Voz Pública, from México City.
Guests: Brother Filiberto, member of the Albergue para Migrantes Hermanos en el Camino; Perseo García, photojournalist; Hilda Luz Rivera de Ramírez, who is searching for René Wilmorris Ramírez Rivera, a migrant who disappeared in Mexico.
